First, Ms. Nakada went around to check for quotes, questions, and songs of the week. While Ms. Nakada was walking around, the students were reading, well some of them. Then, after that, Ms. Nakada asked how everyone was doing with their books. Next, the students took out their reading journals to continue what we did yesterday. We had to give three reasons why Ponyboy will stay gold or him not being "gold." The kids had to write an introduction if they didn't finish yesterday. Nothing really interesting happened today, to be honest it was kinda wack. Anyways, one person read their introduction to the class. Then, Ailen had a question, and that's it, pretty much. Got to go now. Ciao.

I sat down in my seat, and I already knew I was gonna be picked. I got kinda mad when Henry picked me for the blog, when he said Maria, and then said my name again. Ms. Nakada was checking songs of the week, quotes of the week and questions of the week. After that, Henry kept on bugging me and laughing at me. Yesterday, we learned about "Reading Banned Books." I was kinda hoping I got picked on Wednesday because I could have written the blog on Wednesday but not read it on Thursday because there is Academy Day. I was kinda surprised when Ms. Nakada told us that The Outsiders was banned!! Alright, the bell rang, and I gotta go to music. BYEEE!!

First, the students wrote down the agenda, and I don't know why Ryan was laughing at me. Then, they took out their reading journals and wrote the quote of the week: "Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One doesn't love to breathe." Scout Finch To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. The question of the week: "Do you read banned books? " After that, we watched a video about it. While the video was playing, Ms. Nakada was checking the journals. Also, we listened to the song of the week "Mr. Roboto" STYX. My favorite lyric was, "thank you Mr. Roboto." Next, we were working on our essay basics. Bye.

HW: Heads up! Book projects due Friday.

Today, we started class off by taking out our reading journals so Ms. Nakada could check them. While she checked them the students did reader's workshop. While that was going on, Henry and Ryan kept laughing at me struggling lol. After that, it was mostly quiet. Ms. Nakada then asked for the tests back, and it started getting noisy again. She then asked if anyone needed a red pen, so they can correct the quiz that we took a while ago. After that, everyone turned the quiz in and started talking. Then, they all took out their English notebooks and wrote another thing for their table of contents. Ms. Nakada then started talking about essays and what they are compared to a paragraph. She then started talking about introductions and how to start one. After that, Ms. Nakada told us to pack up, and the bell rang. Bye.

Today, in class we started with STAR testing. Then, people came up to get iPads. Next, the class became mostly silent. During the moment, there wasn't much going on, and surprisingly no one has made any type of disturbance yet. Ms. Nakada read the people who needed to show her their binder reminders, and sadly my name was called, but I'm not that surprised. If I'm being honest, I'm kinda mad that Denise picked me, because I was really unprepared, and I can already tell Ms. Nakada is going to have a lot to correct. Luckily today was a short day so I wouldn't have to spend too much time on this. I then see that Ms. Nakada started coming around to check Binder Reminders/Reading Journals, and I got a little worried because I didn't know if I had everything that met the standard. Kids then started getting up and putting away their iPads. Behind me, Ashley started messing around with someone behind her, because, like, why wouldn't she. A few minutes later, the class started getting loud again, and kids started packing up. Whilst they were doing so, Ms. Nakada was explaining to read at least 20 mins per night. The bell rang, then I started to dread my next class. Okay that's the end of this blog. It kind of sucked, but I tried. I hate you Denise... just kidding. I still love you.

Today, in Ms. Nakada class we did the quote, question, and song of the week.

Quote: "You get tough like me and you don't get hurt. You look out for yourself and nothing can touch you." Dallas Winston The Outsiders.

Question: How should you/parents handle a bad progress report?

Song: "Fast Car" Tracy Chapman

Ms. Nakada talk about the time she got a C in one of her classes, so her parents didn't allow her to use her phone. While the kids where listening to the song of the week, I looked behind me and I saw Henry with his pencil in his mouth. It was nasty, but it's alright because I do the same thing when I get bored. When the song finished, I was super shocked that David didn't clap like he always does. The class got their new books today; they can choose any book that are on the shelves or any of their choice. Ashley came up to me and started to laugh at me but idk why.

HW: Enjoy your weekend!

Today, students came into class and found their seats with the desks turned. After Adrian read his blog, students made a pile at the aisle of binder reminders for me to collect. Then, I passed out the quizzes, and everyone got started.

While students worked on their quizzes, I graded binder reminders and then passed them back at the end of the period. Everyone worked so diligently on the quiz, and hopefully everyone did great!

I will not carry on the tradition of a strange narrative in the blog about student-alien invasions or evil teachers. I just won't.

Ms. Nakada texted Violeta's mom to tell her that she isn't doing any work. Violeta's mom texts back and tells Ms. Nakada she will make sure she does her homework. We finished The Outsiders, after Ms. Nakada said we are all going to do the AR test about The Outsiders.

Today, we started off by Camyrn reading her blog. She chose me, but I didn't really mind because I wanted to get it over with. Then, Ms. Nakada starts correcting Camryn's blog with the class. After that, Ms. Nakada tells the class to take out their reading journals and read their summaries to their partner about The Outsiders. Next, Alejandra reads her summary. In her summary, she talks about how Dally died and Ponyboy is in the hospital because he was bleeding from his head, because during the rumble one of the Socs were kicking him. Then, Ms. Nakada and the class lists reasons why we could tell Pony wasn't feeling well, saying he killed Bob and not Johnny and Johnny was still alive.  Then, the class takes out their books and does annotations on the two chapters we read last night. They annotate about Pony being in a hospital, but he didn't remember because he passed out. The next annotation is about Randy talking to Pony, because Pony doesn't want to think Johnny is dead, so he says he killed Bob. So Ms. Nakada says Pony is an unreliable narrator because of his condition. They also talk about Pony getting a ride from a complete stranger and Darry getting a call from Dally saying he robbed a supermarket. They meet him at the lot and that's where the police shoot him and he dies. Then, the class reads a book while Ms. Nakada checks reading journals. Next, the class takes out their English notebooks, in their table of contents they write Step-Up to Writing. Step-Up to Writing is a color coded writing strategy that helps with organization and structure.

I think thats pretty much it. I had a fun time writing the blog, and I can't wait to do it again. :)

When we first went in class today, Jason read his blog to the class. After, Ms. Nakada asked Jason who he will choose for the next blog. In my mind, I was thinking please don't pick me, but what do you know, he just had to pick me. Anyways, after that, we corrected Jason's blog. Then, Ms. Nakada said to go over your summary of The Outsiders with their partner. Later, Josh shares his summary out loud to the class, and then Denise shares hers also. In the class, they talked about Johnny's last words to Pony which was '' Stay gold.'' Then, the class talked about what Johnny meant by that which was be yourself and don't change. Then, Ms. Nakada ask the class to take out there post-it notes. Ms. Nakada and the class start going over and writing down important highlights that happened in the chapter. After that, Ms. Nakada starts sharing her experience about how she almost got into fights, which I found hilarious for whatever reason because it's weird imagining my English teacher in a fight. In the chapter, they also talked about how the Greasers won the rumble, but didn't really win the rumble because the Socs are still on top. Then, they talk about irony. Next, we all find out together that Johnny dies in the book. So sad. He was a pretty cool character, but oh well, everything happens for a reason. After we finish summarizing The Outsiders, she asked the class to take out there reading journals and their books, so that she can check to see if the class has done there homework.

So, yeah, I think that's what pretty much happened. Anyways, thanks Jason for choosing me. You are a really nice person. Ok bye now :D

The Writing Process
HW T.O. 4.1 P. 131-149

So, today we start off by Ricky reading his blog, and after he finished he called me. Ms. Nakada starts with the question of the week which is "How do you take care of yourself in stressful time?" Some students respond by saying "talking to someone and having a positive mindset." Then, she tells everyone to write down three ways you calm down during stressful times. After that, she puts down the song of the week the song is called "Blue Jeans And White T-Shirts" by Gaslight Anthem. As she puts on the song, David starts clapping like how he does in every song of the week. After the song is over, Ms. Nakada tells the students to write down their favorite lyric, and what does the song mean. After that we start in our reading journals, and the students write down two things, the Elements of Plot and The Writing process. Then, Ms. Nakada starts explaining the Elements of Plot, such as the climax, rising action, resolution, and the characters, setting, and conflict. Next, she tells the students to draw a plot line about The Outsiders, explaining what happens in the book using the elements of plot. After that, we turn the page and start on "The Writing Process." She explains the writing process. Then, she explains all the steps of writing such as (thinking, brainstorming, talking, and listing) then she explains the 2 part of the writing process "Drafting."
So, this is the end of my first blog, and I am glad Ricky picked me.

HW: STAY COOL THIS WEEKEND

First, we went to the book fair. Then, when we came back up, Jenny read her blog, and I was hoping she wouldn't pick me, but she did.

Now, I have to do the blog, and I don't want to read it on Monday.

We talked about The Outsiders. Johnny isn't doing well, and Johnny's mom was screaming at him. Cherry drives a Corvette, and Pony got mad at her.

That was it.

I pick Jason.

During 5th period, in Ms. Nakada's class, we started off on correcting David's Blog. As David was reading his blog, I kepted on praying that he wouldn't choose me so, after he was done reading he was looking around the room to see who he would pick. He picked Chianti at first, and I saw the look she had. She was nervous, and looked annoyed at David. Then, after, he changed his mind, and he looked at me and said, "Jennifer!" I was so mad at him, because I kept telling him to not choose me, and he did. As I came and sat down, David kept on bugging me to choose Jason, and I said no. Anyways, Ms. Nakada started telling us to take out our Reading Journals and start talking to each other about what happened in Chapter 7. Next, our class started taking annotations about The Outsiders; how Bob drinks too much and how Sandy is pregnant. Then, Ms. Nakada asked Ashley, "Was that you?" because someone burped. Ashley responded with laughter, "No." I just kept on drinking my water, confused about what was going on. Then, Ms.Nakada looked at me and said "gross." She continued on teaching our class and told us to take out or notebook for English and started writing our assignments we did in the class and our scores. David came up to me and gave me my sumer passport and asked me, "how's the blog?" and told him it's going good. I told him that you're mean and he said "Nah."

After that, I just talked to Alejandra for a minute or two. I just started taking a break from the blog and going onto Schoology to check my grade in this class and of course you know I got an A. I'm so proud of myself because usually I don't do hw or anything. Anyways, I'm done with this blog, so bye :).

In the class, Ms. Nakada was talking about our homework that we did last night and how if you didn't do your homework, raise your hand so we could figure out who didn't do it. Then, Ms. Nakada told the class everyone take out a piece of paper, so we can see who did their homework and whoever did gets 10 points. The questions were: "What did Johnny tell Darry he wanted to do?", "What happened to the church?",  "Who did Pony hug at the very end of the chapter?" Next, Ms. Nakada and the class talked about: The Outsiders P. 85-99 , Dally was trying not to tear up when his mom and dad were killed and he was at the funeral, his brothers were crying while he was standing still acting tough for his brothers so he knew that he would have had to be their father figure even though they are all brothers. After that, Dally was scared of losing another person that he loved when Ponyboy was gone for a week. He could hear his heart beating hard and him sobbing but holding back the tears. Then, Ponyboy said that he was finally home, but he really wasn't home because he was in the hospital. Last, Ms. Nakada wrapped up The Outsiders and told everyone to take out their reading journals, so she could check them. The class almost got another point for everyone being here in the class, but Adrian was not here so therefore we didn't get the point we deserved. This has been a great time on the blog THANK you for picking me .

Ms. Nakada corrects Nelson's blog, and since everyone was here, she gave us a point. Nelson donated, so she gave us another point. Ms. Nakada told the students to take out their journals to write down the quote for today and the quote for today was: ''To build community requires vigilant awareness of the work we must do to undermine all of the socialization that leads us to behave in ways that perpetuate domination'' and it was by bell hooks. Then, Ms. Nakada was talking about the quote and stuff. After that, Ms. Nakada told the students to turn to the page where the students wrote the question of the week. The question of the week was: ''What do you think about school?'' Next, Ms. Nakada asked if anyone wanted to share what they wrote. Then, Nelson shared what he wrote, and then David shared what he wrote. Also, after that, she said ''Time for Song.'' The song for today was ''Think.'' She played the song, and she forgot to put the lyrics, so she put them. While the song was playing, David was clapping and Jennifer and Alejandra were dying of laughter. After that, she asked if anyone if they wanted to share and only one person did. Next, she said that she had to check if people did their projects, if they didn't do them on Thursday. After, she said that she told the rest of the people to take out The Outsiders or go to go to the front of the class to get an iPad so they can take their AR test. After all that, the room got quiet. Ms. Nakada walks around the room and does what she got to do.
